To answer your question about how I did the transition from planet to clouds to spacescape on my recent piece "Atonement".. I lost the .psd when my computer crashed, otherwise I could show you that, but I can explain how I did it over msn/aim if you want me to sometime.. it's actually quite simple, I was really surprised when I discovered it. It has to do mainly with the overlay you give the clouds.. I'll explain more to you if you contact me.
